The raw materials in Toplap Gel are Lidocaine and Prilocaine, local amide-type anesthetics used to desensitize the area of skin where the gel is applied.

Toplap Gel is used to prevent pain associated with injections; to prevent pain associated with blood sampling (the drawing of blood from a vein) for medical examinations; to prevent pain associated with minor surgeries (removal of genital warts); to prevent pain associated with cleansing/removal of damaged skin of leg ulcers.

Lidocaine and Prilocaine are local anesthetics that produce analgesic effects. They both stabilize neuronal membranes and provide local anesthetic action by inhibiting the ionic fluxes required for the initiation and conduction of impulses that deliver pain signals to the brain.

One gram of gel pressed out of a tube is approximately 3,5 cm. For skin before small procedures (such as having a needle put in or minor skin operations): Adults and adolescents over 12 years: the usual dose is 2 g. Put the gel on at least 1 hour before the procedure (unless the gel is being used on the genitals). Do not put it on more than 5 hours before.

Infants 0-2 months: up to 1 g of gel on a skin area not larger than 10 cm2 in size, 1 hour before the procedure. One single dose for 24-hour period. Infants 3-11 months: up to 2 g of gel on a total skin area not larger than 20 cm2, 1 hour (max. 4 hours) before the procedure. Two doses at 12-hours interval may be given in any 24 hour period.

Children 1-5 years: up to 10 g of gel on a total skin area not larger than 100 cm2, 1 hour (max. 5 hours) before the procedure. Children 6-11 years: up to 20 g of gel on a total skin area not larger than 200 cm2, 1 hou (max. 5 hours) before the procedure.

For skin prior to removal of wart-like spots called “mollusca”: The usual dose depends on the child’s age and is used for 30 to 60 minutes (30 minutes if the patient has atopic dermatitis). Check it with your doctor or pharmacist on how much gel to use.

For genital skin before injections of local anesthetics only for individuals over 12 years of age: The usual dose is 1 g of gel (1-2 g for female genital skin) for each area of skin that is 10 cm2. The gel is put on under a dressing for 15 minutes on male genital skin and for 60 minutes on female genital skin.

For genitals before minor skin surgery (removing warts) only for individuals over 12 years of age: The usual dose is 5- 10 g of gel for 10 minutes without dressing. The procedure should then start instantly.

For leg ulcers before cleaning or removal of damaged skin only in adults under doctor's supervision: The usual dose is 1-2 g of gel for each area of skin that is 10 cm2 up to a total of 10 g. The gel is put on under an airtight dressing such as plastic wrap. This is done for 30-60 minutes before the ulcer is to be cleansed.

Do not use Toplap Gel on areas with skin rash, cuts, grazes or other open wounds (with the exception of a leg ulcer), in or near the eyes, inside the nose, ear or mouth, in the back passage (anus), on the genitals of children. Toplap Gel should be used on the genitals and leg ulcers under doctor or nurse supervision.

For use in children under 2 years of age, consult your pharmacist. If you are unsure how to measure the applied amounts, consult your pharmacist.

Avoid exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures (e.g. food, drink) until complete sensation has returned.

Avoid contact Toplap Gel with the eyes because numbness in the eyes may prevent you from noticing if you get something in your eye. If you unintentionally get Toplap Gel in your eye, immediately rinse it well with lukewarm water or salt (sodium chloride) solution.

Toplap Gel is used only when needed, therefore missed dosages are not relevant. Do not exceed the doctor's recommended dose. Do not apply a double dose of Toplap Gel. If an overdose occurs and you are feeling unwell, you should seek emergency medical attention or contact your healthcare provider immediately.

Store at room temperature up to 30 degrees C (86 degrees F) and away from excess moisture and heat. Do not freeze. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date. Keep out of the reach of children.
