Premarin Vaginal Cream

Premarin Vaginal Cream containing the active ingredient Conjugated Estrogen is a form of the naturally occurring female sex hormone estrogen. It should be used by postmenopausal women who have had a hysterectomy as a form of hormone replacement therapy to maintain proper levels of estrogen in the body. The medication can be used to treat vaginal symptoms of menopause such as painful sexual intercourse, painful urination or vaginal irritation, burning and dryness.

Premarin Vaginal Cream should be applied topically to the inside of the vagina once per day or as directed by a doctor. The cream is usually used in a cycle of 3 weeks and taking 1 week off. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. To apply Premarin Vaginal Cream, fill the applicator according to the directions, insert the applicator high into the vagina and press the plunger to release the medication. Remove the applicator and clean with warm soapy water.

Patients using Premarin Vaginal Cream may encounter unwanted side effects such as: nausea, vomiting, bloating, breast tenderness, swelling or pain, headaches, weight changes, vaginal itching or discharge, mental or mood changes. Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persists or worsen.

Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.

Premarin Vaginal Cream is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
