Parkitidin is used for preventing and treating certain types of flu. It is used to treat Parkinson disease and uncontrolled muscle movements caused by some medicines. Amantadine is an antiparkinson and antiviral agent. It may block reproduction of the virus and decrease the ability of the virus to get into the cells.

Use Parkitidin as directed by your doctor. Take Parkitidin by mouth with or without food.

If you are using Parkitidin for the flu, take it for the full course of treatment. Keep using Parkitidin even if you feel better in a few days. This will help clear up your infection completely.

If you miss a dose of Parkitidin, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once. Ask your health care provider any questions you may have about how to use Parkitidin.

Do NOT use Parkitidin if: you are allergic to any ingredient in Amantadine; you have uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma. Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.

Some medical conditions may interact with Parkitidin. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding; if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement; if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances; if you have a history of heart problems (eg, congestive heart failure), swelling of your hands or feet, mental or mood problems, suicidal thoughts or actions, seizures, glaucoma, low blood pressure, dizziness when you stand or sit up, an eczema-like rash, or kidney or liver problems; if you have received an intranasal flu vaccine within the last 14 days.

Some medicines may interact with Parkitidin. Tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicines.

Parkitidin may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision. These effects may be worse if you take it with alcohol or certain medicines. Use Parkitidin with caution. Do not drive or perform other possible unsafe tasks until you know how you react to it. Parkitidin may cause dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting; alcohol, hot weather, exercise, or fever may increase these effects. To prevent them, sit up or stand slowly, especially in the morning. Sit or lie down at the first sign of any of these effects.

This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. If you have questions about side effects, contact your health care provider.
